Venue Details

VENUE WAIVER

We have a new, streamlined venue waiver for all venues.  A separate waiver must be filled out for each attendee entering the venue. The waiver can be completed online via a PC or mobile device.  Once the waiver has been filled out for the season, attendees will not need to complete another waiver.

Please fill this out no later than February 10, 2022.  Those who do not complete the waiver online by the deadline, will need to wait in line at the venue to complete paper waivers.

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Sunday: Gate opens at 6:00 a.m.

LODGING:
Multiple hotels are available in nearby Burnet, TX and cabins are available for rent at Spider Mountain which is just down the road.

VENUE RULES:

  • Parental supervision is required. No exceptions.
  • League staff and team coaches are not responsible for student athletes outside of pre-ride and race day.
  • The jumps, drops and enduro lines are closed to all NICA participants. Violators will receive orange level consequences.
  • Campfires in metal fire pits are allowed. Propane grills and stoves are allowed as consistent with current local fire restrictions.
  • Trash service will be provided.
  • Port-a-johns will be provided.
  • Potable water is not available.

RACE DAY MAP:

Access to the event parking will be across the road from the RPR gun range. Continue past the main entrance to Reveille Peak Ranch on CR 114 for ½ mile to Graphite Mine Rd. Turn left onto Graphite Mine Rd. for approximately 1.1 miles. Enter the gate on the left/east side of the road across from the gun range.

  • The course will run in a counter-clockwise direction.
  • Middle school laps will remain on the light blue course (~4.5 miles)
  • It is our best intention for high school laps to include an extension. Our intention is to have the trail highlighted in orange included in the high school laps, but this is subject to change!
  • The loose rocks and granite at RPR are unique to many newer athletes. Coaches should take the time to “session” and work on proper technique. Please be patient on the pre-ride so everyone has a chance to learn the skills necessary to ride this awesome course!

The course and other elements are subject to change as race day approaches.

Registration

NO ONSITE REGISTRATION

Registration must be completed online and closes at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 for the Sunday, February 13 race.

NICA Texas Mountain Bike Race Ready

RACE PLATES: Coaches will pick up all race plates at the first race. Riders will receive one plate to be used for all 2022 season races. Plates have chips on the back and require care to avoid damage. There is a $10 fee to replace lost, stolen or forgotten plates. Replacements are at registration. DO NOT LOSE YOUR RACE PLATE!

Volunteers

It takes ~120 volunteers to put on each race. You will find that getting involved with the race is a rewarding experience and a great way to be part of the action.

Home Team Volunteers

Races venues don’t get cleaned up on their own! We need your help! Teams that are the closest to each venue have been assigned as “home teams” and are expected to help with the infield cleanup process.

The home teams assigned are:

  • Bulldogs
  • Dripping Springs
  • St. Stephens
  • Stephen F. Austin
  • Boerne Composite
  • San Marcos High School
  • Camancho Activity Center

Freshman and Sophomore Boys and Girls
45-90 minutes

JV Girls
45-90 minutes

JV Boys and Varsity Girls
60-100 minutes

Varsity Boys
90-120 minutes

Student athletes are expected to be able to safely complete the course within the designated time limit. Athletes may be asked to withdraw and exit the course after cut-off time limits have been reached. Racers who do not make the time limit cut-off will still be scored and ranked.

League and race officials reserve the right to determine these time limits and alter them at any time. Time limits may be imposed or altered for reasons that include, but are not limited to, safety, heat, cold, rain, and muddy conditions.

Chip Timing

All riders will receive a permanent number plate with a chip timing transponder on the backside. Be mindful when attaching race plates that it can be easily seen from the front of the bike.

To help students remember their number in staging, write their plate number on masking tape and adhere it to their bars, facing them, so they can quickly reference it. This will help keep the staging and call-up process efficient.

Riders will use the same plate for the entire race series. Please remove this number plate before transporting bikes to prevent loss.
Replacement number plates will be available at the registration tent for $10.00.

Live race results will be posted at the race and will be available on my.raceresult.com

Category Placement Petitions

Those petitioning for exceptions to category placement must do so by Sunday, January 30, 2022 by 11:59 p.m

No race day petitions will be accepted

Decisions regarding canceling, postponing or altering race start times, lap lengths, number of laps, etc. will be made jointly by league staff and the land manager. Often, these decisions cannot be made until the day of the race due to the unpredictability of severe weather. The league will make every attempt to notify all stakeholders as soon as possible via email, social media, website updates and/or the coaches GroupMe. Please review the full Weather Policy for additional details.
